How we can support you

  • Grief and Loss Counselling

A grief counsellor helps individuals process and cope with the emotional and psychological effects of loss, such as death, divorce, or major life transitions. They provide a safe, confidential and supportive space for clients to express their feelings, offering guidance on coping strategies.

Our volunteer listeners and counsellors can support you with one-to-one counselling at our discreet premises at Kingsland House.

We will have a First Point of Contact meeting to briefly discuss your loss. GBS will then match a listener or counsellor best suited to help you with your loss.

GBS respectfully ask clients if they are in a position to do so to make a donation of £20 per counselling meeting or a donation of your choice . However, no one will be denied counselling at GBS if a donation is not available .

We can support you with your loss, whether this is a very recent loss, or a loss that you experienced some time ago.

  • Telephone and Online Counselling

GBS have trained counsellors who can counsel on-line, or by telephone if you are unable to visit our premises, for whatever reason.

You will need a safe, confidential and supportive space, where you can express your feelings when attending telephone or online counselling.

GBS respectfully ask clients if they are in a position to do so. to make a donation of £10 per counselling meeting. However, no one will be denied counselling at GBS if a donation is not available .

On occasions our counsellors may provide a blended approach of both face to face and remote counselling.

  • Group Meetings

GBS have recently secured funding for well-being classes and a knitting group.

Check out our diary of events below, please contact Admin@gbs.org.gg if you would like to come along to any of our events.

  • Corporate Support – Emergency Cover/Wellbeing

GBS are pleased to be able support anybody experiencing a loss. If your work team needs support or help after a loss, or a colleague or friend has been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, we can support your teams or staff, on a one-to-one basis, or group session if preferred.

  • End of Life Planning/Preparation following Terminal Diagnosis

Planning for end-of-life can feel daunting, but creating a Life File ensures your wishes are honoured and eases burdens on loved ones. This central document stores vital information to guide difficult decisions when you can no longer speak for yourself. While end-of-life preparation is emotionally complex, your legacy will provide comfort. However you shape your Life File, know it is an act of care - for yourself, loved ones, and the cherished memories that define your journey.

The sad reality is it hurts to lose anyone, or something that you care about. But don’t despair - all is not lost. If you are willing to go through the hurt, you will discover the way to healing.
